We seek a Psychometrician, Full-time, In-Person at our East Providence, Rhode Island location.

The Psychometrician performs various clinical, administrative, and support duties under the direction of licensed Neuropsychologists within the Neuropsychology Service. This position requires the Psychometrician to work on-site at RICBT/OneCBT's East Providence, RI, location.

This position entails interaction with patients/families/caregivers, administering and scoring neuropsychological tests, and maintaining precise records of test administration to assist in diagnosing neurobehavioral disorders. Testing occurs as a component of the evaluation of patients with known or suspected neurological and psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to neurodegenerative conditions, cerebrovascular disease and stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, brain tumor, learning and intellectual disabilities, ADHD, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other syndromes affecting brain and behavior.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, licensure/certifications, etc.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (in psychology is a plus)
  • Experience as a psychometrist is required
  • Certification in Psychometry is a plus
  • Warm, intelligent, articulate, detail-oriented, and skilled with technology
  • Willing to learn and grow in the position (minimum 2-year commitment)

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

  • Possesses well-developed interpersonal skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to empathize with and encourage maximal effort from a diverse patient population
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with professional and administrative staff within the group and the larger clinical center
  • Possesses excellent observational skills and the ability to record and convey those observations systematically and reliably through writing
  • Demonstrates good time management, organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word and Excel, and the capacity to learn and master a variety of neuropsychological assessment administration and scoring software, and other computer programs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers and scores standardized tests of attention, memory, language, spatial/constructional ability, executive function, motor function, mood, and personality functioning under the supervision of licensed staff Neuropsychologists
  • Establishes rapport with patients and ensures appropriate and comfortable neuropsychological testing conditions to facilitate optimal patient performance and assessment validity
  • Administers and scores all tests according to standardized methods and methods instructed by staff Neuropsychologists
  • Makes observations of the patient's behavior and affect during the evaluation and records these observations concisely and systematically. Maintains regular communication with the supervising Neuropsychologist throughout the testing session. Share relevant test scores, behavioral observations, and alerts to any concerns that arise during testing
  • Produces test data in an accurate and timely manner. Enters scores and other data in summary tables within the clinical report
  • Coordinates the daily testing schedule for patients and their family members/caregivers. Schedules follow-up testing appointments when necessary and takes appropriate steps to ensure maximal patient follow-through. Works closely with Neuropsychology and administrative support staff to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure optimal communication between all involved parties.
  • Maintains testing materials, testing rooms, and record forms in working condition and in good supply. Performs inventory, orders, or requests new supplies/equipment/forms as necessary. Notifies staff Neuropsychologists when equipment needs repair/replacement. Designs, updates, and produces new or replacement test forms and scoring calculators under the guidance of staff Neuropsychologists
  • Performs occasional support tasks necessary in the day-to-day operation of the Neuropsychology service (e.g. scanning files) and other tasks as required per staff Neuropsychologists
  • Participates in the teaching/training of new psychometrists and practicum students.
  • Abides by the Code of Ethics developed by the Board of Certified Psychometrists for Certified Specialists in Psychometry
  • Attends Neuropsychology team meetings and other training as required
