Perspectives Counseling Center is a premier outpatient private practice offering mental health and chemical dependency services in various convenient locations in Southeastern Michigan. We're seeking a Full-time, In-person, Patient Care Coordinator for our Troy, MI location.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Able to work flexible hours)

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to education, and work experience.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma with coursework in office systems
  • One year of work experience in an office, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Exceptional customer service skills 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferred
  • Comfortable on computers (EMR experience preferred)

Minimum Competencies:

  • The ability to speak clearly in sentences in standard English on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and explain information
  • The ability to read and comprehend documents written in English text
  • The ability to write in English text to communicate information clearly and legibly
  • Ability to operate office equipment including copy machine, facsimile, adding machine, and
  • scanner
  • Ability to accurately type text into pre-designed fields within a reasonable time
  • Demonstrated skill in using software applications to produce business communications
  • Ability to calculate rates, and percentages and make changes
  • Ability to analyze information in a patient account to identify relationships and
  • formulate logical conclusions
  • Ability to systematically arrange information into groups or categories according to established criteria, i.e., filing alphabetizing
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, professional staff, supervisors, and the public
  • Ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance or contrary opinions
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to perform effectively with frequent workload changes, fluctuations, and competing
  • demands
  • Ability to perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions
  • Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work promptly
  • The ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction
  • Recognize an emergency and take appropriate action
  • Ability to understand and follow appropriate chain of command

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, at least 75% of the day
  • Must be able to see well enough to read computer screens and written material
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate in person and on the telephone with others
  • Must be able to move about the department including daily bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 40 pounds (<5% of the day.)
  • Must be able to type and use technical sources

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office setting with normal working conditions absent extreme factors. Some travel for training seminars

Access to Patient Records:

  • Must be able to follow procedures related to Confidentiality of Patient Records and Disclosure of Patient Records Policies
  • Access is limited to pulling and filing charts and reviewing portions of the medical record, as needed, and upon request during patient communication and provision

General Office Duties:

  • Answers the phone within 3 rings in a courteous manner; Ability to handle 2 or more phone lines simultaneously, Transfers calls and/or takes complete messages
  • Greet clients or visitors in a courteous manner
